Einstein's Tongue

From The Editor's Desk
Dear Readers,
The annals of journalism are rife with accounts of buzzing copyrooms, frantic editors, deadlines approaching with all the urgency of nuclear countdowns, and--overriding all--the niggling question in the minds of everyone involved: Is it worth it?
Of course it is. In this miraculous age, the copyroom has been replaced by the server that handles messages zipping back and forth between Colorado (where Angela lives) and Nova Scotia (where Bill and Don live). The frantic editor has been replaced by three frantic editors, but at least they're not in the same room, getting on each other's nerves. Deadlines are still deadlines, but in this case, they are self-imposed.
In this, our second issue, we are delighted beyond telling to welcome our new associate editor, Don Sedgwick. As the former publisher of Doubleday Canada and Scholastic Canada, Don is a veteran of the publishing industry, and the fact that he is volunteering his efforts to make our humble publication ever more eminent gives a boost to our goal of providing pieces that are both excellent and unusual--in other words, works of whimsical genius. Don will be writing a regular column entitled "Tongue In Cheek", in which he will share his thoughts on the current state of the writing and publishing industry, as well as anything else he cares to mention.
I also want to take this opportunity to re-affirm our aim to be a truly international journal--not American, not Canadian, but global. Universal, even. We welcome work from every perspective, every culture, every angle, and every category.
Remember--when in doubt, submit! There is genius in all of us, and we need to share it with the world.
William Kowalski
